Alas, I didn't come up with that headline. The honour goes to the boys at BBC Sketch Factor, Auntie's latest initiative to nuture new sketch-writing talent. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal too - sumbit a couple of appropriate sketches, and the 10 best entrants get to join a "writer's academy" where they will be "mentored" by "leading" "comedy writers". Well done the BBC - another winner. |

The English Assocation's poetry contest is on again, inviting you to send your 30-line-and-under poems for consideration of a top prize of £500, and the honour of being read by Andrew Motion, amongst others. They say the theme this year is READING, but thanks to their use of all-caps we're not sure whether that's the pastime or the bustling Berkshire conurbation. Maybe it's up to you.

What would you grab if you could borrow anything from any book you've ever read? Perhaps you've always wanted to try on Miss Haversham's wedding dress from Great Expectations? Or fancied being Lord of the Rings? Maybe to view the world through the Big Brother telescreen of 1984? If you can write 150 words on this theme, then the Every Object Tells a Story scheme (sponsored by Channel 4 and the V&A Museum) wants to know. Winning entries get printed onto bookmarks and everything. Every Object Tells a Story |

What if you'd met Clive Dunn, just before 'Grandad' topped the charts? What if you'd got to hang out with Black Lace in Marbella? What if you can think of better examples than these? Imagine an encounter with your own music legend and use it to create imaginative, original drama. Be funny, be bold, tell a great story in less than 10 minutes. Winning entries will be broadcast on BBC Radio 2, so get your entries in before June 2. Imagine |

Johnny Vegas wants your monologues. As part of Radio Five Live's coverage of the World Cup, they want to capture its magic, mystery and mayhem in a series of 2-3 minute monologues, selected and broadcast throughout the competition.
