Just a small poem I wrote a long while back, It is short and (at least I think,) funny.
The students in their classes screaming,
Jumping round from chair to chair,
Some had gotten to the playground,
Giving teachers quite a scare,
Already they got the sweeper man,
That's the day the teachers ran.
The students gathered all their weapons,
Pens with ink and paper balls,
They marched together as one army,
chasing teachers through the halls,
The maths, the science, every teacher,
even the guy who drove the van,
Chased by students out of school,
That's the day the teachers ran.

The students are revolting! Written by tamper (18 comments posted) 23rd March 2005 |
And what caused the students' revolt? Perhaps it's better not to know! Fun little piece, if a bit scary. I'm glad I don't work at that school... |

I do work at that school. I liked the epic metre of the piece. |
wishful thinking .... Written by PaulMcDermott (0 comments posted) 4th April 2005 |
....... sometimes the temptation to cut and run is just tooooooo much! In the light of the recent news item about the teacher who 'snapped' and fought back against the yobs, only to be prosecuted and jailed for defending herself, this story is a little too close to reality to be entirely 'comfortable, ..... |

I'm not an expert at writing reviews, but here goes: The first thing is that the title catches your attention, but I thought it was perhaps going to be about a race. From the point of view of appearance, you should indent the rhyming lines three spaces. The next thing is that you need to divide it into verses - perhaps after each fourth line. Don't forget children will read it - so make sure your apostrophes are in: That's (that is). If you want rhythm in your poem, the lines should be roughly the same length - one is extremely long and tenuous. I think it is a funny poem, but also sad, because teachers do such good work. I might write a poem "Teacher's Day" - which tells of all the good things they did for their teachers. It will be a funny contrast. |
