Four Guys. One Trip. Seven Days

                                                      Chapter Four

                        Dreams and Nightmares

"Hello Anne"
"Hey"
"So.....How was your exam...?"
"It was ..was ok....look i have to tell you something..."
"I have to tell you something really important too...and you are going to kill me when you hear this....Iam really sorry that Iam telling you about this now..I should have called you the moment it was fixed...But you know..."
"What is it?"
"Guess what? Iam getting married...!!!"
                Alex opened his eyes. For a moment he wasn't sure where he was. Slowly he started to regroup things. He was sharing a large bed with his three best friends in Aanandham.
                It was still dark outside. Alex checked his watch. It was Five in the morning. Last night was long. All four played cards with Grand pa and his grand daughter; who was living in the house ;Meera. They got involved so much in the game that they lost track of time. They slept at one in the morning. But Alex wasn't feeling sleepy or tired now. He just had a nightmare.
                    *****************************
     Sanjay woke up at eight in the morning. He found PS and Suhail sleeping next to him. Alex wasn't there.
      'Last night was fun' thought Sanjay. Eventhough his grandfather was a jovial person , Sanjay had never seen him laughing the way he was laughing yesterday.
        All of them were playing cards.PS, Sanjay and grandpa were a team and Meera,Suhail and Alex were the other team. Grandpa was constantly pulling PS's legs for his goofy mistakes. There was constant quarelling and mock fights throughout the night.
        Sanjay never understood why there were problems between his father and grandpa. He dreamed of a day when both of them would settle their issues.
                     ******************************
        Suhail was thinking about Meera without getting up from bed. He heard the noise of Alex and Sanjay playing badminton. PS was still sleeping soundly next to him.
                Meera was a fifteen year old girl who had just finished her tenth. Her mother Sujatha was Sanjay's father's sister.
              Sanjay told about their family background yesterday.
Meera's father,Raghav was an alcoholic. The man used to beat his wife and children every night. He lost his job and Sujatha started to earn a living by taking music classes. But Raghav didn't like the idea and the abuse towards his wife continued.
        Eventually Grandpa intervened and some ten years back Sujatha was divorced. Since then Sujatha is staying with her two children Meera and Somu in her father's home. The financial situation was tough for them. Grandpa had very less land now as he had given the share to his seven children. Meera was a really bright student;but she might be forced to stop her studies as Sujatha might choose to support her son  Somu's studies who was now in fifth grade. But Meera's face revealed none of this .
She was a friendly girl.She had a maturity which Suhail hadn't witnessed in any of the girls in his college.
    There was something about this girl that Suhail could relate to.

   When PS woke up in the morning it was half past nine. He heard a dog barking. PS ran outside. He saw that Suhail and Sanjay were playing badminton. Alex was watching them play.
PS:"Where is he?"

Alex:"Who?"

PS:"The dog"

"There" Sanjay pointed to the direction where Chandran the servant was giving a doberman bath."His name is Tiny Tom"

PS:"Would you look at  that? It's like a dream come true..."

"Here we go again" Suhail knew what PS was thinking.

"What?" Sanjay asked without stopping the play.

PS:"We are now..."

Suhail:"PS, don't even think about it"

PS:"THE FAMOUS FIVE!!!!!!!!"
