As darkness falls, we'll candles light;
When all around us vision fails:
And guard them closely through the night,
Until at dawn the light prevails.

Sometimes you don't need to say anymore.
There's somthing about the fragile light of the candle that is appealing, it's an apt metaphor for the human spirit.
Amnesty have that saying "Better to light a candle than sit and curse the darkness".
Candlelight and darkness, that's us in a nutshell

Article 1 of the Dutch constitution states that: All who are in the Netherlands should be treated the same way in similar cases. Discimination on religion, way of life, political views, race, sex, or any other ground is prohibited.

The irony is that the government seems to violate that law again and again... Hopefully they'll soon see the light of the candle too.
short but powerful poem.
