[Okay. This is just a piece I am working on that is still just a draft but by all means criticise it as much as you want (productive criticism only, please). I guess I need to explain the setting a little. Well, its set in a distant futuristic earth which is controled by one so called government controlled by one party (yes its a little cliché but bare with me). Heres a bit of early history to explain how the government began. (this is not the prologue)]
HISTORY
2145 - The 'GUP' (Global Unification Party) launched a campaign mainly focused on world peace. The campaign was remarkably successful and they soon gained control of the government system through a simple idea that they needed to 'lead the world into peace'.
2147 - The GUP took over the UN by force and replaced it with 'Harmony', hoping to bring the world together instead of just being the enforcers. Decades past and Harmony faught many nations trying to bring control over them. But they had the upper hand as they had most of the once UN's nations supporting them already.
2481 - Scientists had harnessed the speed of light and after about another 10 years had built 'hyperdrives' (the name seemed fitting because of all the science fiction stories in the past several hundred years) into spaceships which made them able to travel to distances beyond our galaxy.
2482 - 2486 - The first encounter with aliens. Reptile-like humanoids. They called themselves the Ak'bah. A peace treaty was signed with the Ak'bah and Humans almost immediately. The Ak'bah later introduced us all to the Galactic Council. Which consisted of no less then 10,000 other races. By the support of the Ak'bah, Earth was granted a seat at the council. Earth was later renamed 'Harmony' for politically correct terms. Harmony became the 'new place to be' for all kinds of alien races.
2490 - 2500 - The continuing integration of aliens on Harmony polluted the human race and hybrids began to appear among the human race. Harmony signed am agreement with the Galactic Council members for Alien Integration rights and Alien races began to merge as citizens of Harmony.
[And thats a basic overview of the history of Harmony.] [I probably should note that this is ENTIRELY fiction and I do not believe that any of this stuff will happen in the future. Its just a fun story setting that I hope will begin to form into a captivating fiction.]
PROLOGUE
He stops. Not what he was doing because he wasn't doing anything in the first place. No, He had stopped his breathing, his body functions and his life. That was the end for him and he knew it. He was hiding. Hiding from the one thing that terrified him the most. However that wasn't what killed him. The blade had. The blade that just a few seconds ago had entered through his rib cage. Why had he been so scared of them? It seemed pointless now. Fear had seemed to have left him. Fear of death. What was he so afraid of? This? Now that he was experiencing it, it didn't seem all that terrifying, other then the few seconds of pain in his torso. He looked down at the blade that was now poking out of his chest. He felt his legs give up. He opened his mouth. "Why." The word seemed pointless. It wasn't even a question. He knew why he had been stabbed. It was inevitable. He was hiding in a dark alley in a dark part of town. There was only a few reasons. The most likely, given the previous circumstances, was that he had just been assassinated by a professional who was hired by the very people who were after him in the first place. He fell. Collapsed to the ground. He could hardly see now. Black had engulfed his sight. That wasn't too hard though, considering it was midnight. But this was more then darkness this was death. Death was now slowing moving closer to him beckoning him. He closed his eyes and breathed his last breath.
