First haiku attempt. If your hotel is around the corner of O'Connell's street and you need to buy stamps for postcards, where to go else?

Dublin GPO
I came over to buy stamps
And see bullet holes

You seem to have managed to fit in so much to think about within three lines. I can't really comment on it's effectiveness as a haiku as i don't have a clue but i like this. Everyday life as affected by conflict etc.... 
Good, quick but thought provoking

Your haiku certainly has all the right attributes:  
5 syllables, 7 syllables and 5 syllables. You definitely have used form, content and language in a meaningful way and you have painted a good mental image in the mind of the reader. Well done Fledermaus. I am very impressed. Did you really see bullet holes? Sad!

The irony is I didn't actually see them, for I didn't know where to look, but appearantly they are up in the pillars. 
Dublin GPO was the headquarters of the Easter Rising...
