Imagine a forest
By uche
18 August 2007
just read WS Graham's poem with same title, and thought i could get my mind working; missed GW folks, life's been a grind for me last few weeks.

Imagine a forest
In beauty without trees, earth
Without moist; imagine

The sky without clouds,
The river without flow, sun
Without light; imagine

Night without moon,
The room without hue, the floor
Without footsteps; imagine

The bed without sheets,
Faucets without water, perfume
Without fragrance; imagine

The wine without flavour,
Desire cold as ash, the kiss with-
Out warmth; imagine

A mouth set without smile,
Your flesh short of fire, me
Without you; imagine

Boughs without leaves,
Full of wilted twigs: the forest
In slow decay; imagine

Life.

I liked that. I'm not entirely sure what you're saying, but the word-flow is lovely.

A well written, thought provoking poem, I thought the repetition worked well.

Are you thinking of a planet that has died, together with death of mankind? Quite a sad poem but very well done and thought provoking. I'd rather think of autumn leaves with a sky with the sun shining down on them, lighting them up.
i'd think of autumn
