Ring around the Moon
By hutmaster
24 August 2007
We saw a ring around the moon.
Her silver skirt in bright, clear air,
A galvanised halo. Hallowed star.
And we had to make a wish.
As though some ancient chemistry
Compelled us in the moonwashed glow
To go from here, our common place
To different realms. Other space.

Science could define the cause
And end the dreamtime revery.
But do we really need to know?
Something in us wants mystery,
And to see rings around the moon;
To wish on clearblue, star tossed nights
For a ring around the moon.

"Something in us wants mystery". I like that line a lot. A quote at the opening of a chapter. :)
