Is it time to buy a Harley?

Just feeling sorry for myself.

I thought I'd change the title - It wasn't very exciting.

My eyebrows grow unruly

It really will not do

Should I pluck them? Should I strim them?

Or leave them all askew

Where once there was a six pack

A Party- Seven sits

I don’t want to have to exercise

This really is the pits

My legs have become skinny

My hair is just as thin

Should I rail against the dying light

Or take it on the chin?

I never was a looker

It just seems so unfair

Seeing reflected in the mirror

The signs of wear and tear

My wife says that she loves me

Even though I’m growing old

She married the man inside, she says,

And not a centrefold

It should make me feel better

Instead I’m feeling sad

That the person looking back at me

Looks so much like my Dad.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I've written once on this subject and am still thinking of it. Good poem. Flowed well.

Awww,bless you sweetie. I'm sure you're exaggerating.

It was a pleasure to read something like this; it scans rhymes and has wit and humour. Might as well give up now you'll never make it as a poet.
Audrie is so right and as Oscar said.
"Every girl grows up like her mother that is her tragedy, no man does, that is his."
cheers
Jane
Thank you.

As anyone who has read any of my stuff knows - I don't do poetry. So it' nice to write a silly couple of verses and find it appreciated.

Audrie - I'm guessing that your mother may well have been better looking than my father.

Josie - Thanks for the PM. Very kind. Give me a day or to to respond properly. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Jane - In response to your first comment - Sadly, no. Have no fear an occasional excursion into comic rhyme does not a poem make. This certainly isn't Prufrock. I just thought it time for teenage angst to make may for real grown up angst. Thanks for taking the time

Regards

Tony
