Before the Lines Came
By andybyers
10 September 2007
He walked
the steal-held land
    unbounded
    before the Lines came
Countries
    counties
       concessions

Driven iron come alive
    turning there to here
       that to this
    halving what was whole
    joining what was strange

He walked
the indivisible divided
    mindful thus
       all around him insane:

       Flags on the moon

You might think this review a little contrary. I normally have to think pretty hard with yours - but this came immediately. Although there is plenty to like, I felt more detached. Figure that one. I guess the act of consideration and rereading can bring a greater closeness to the words.
