Wrote this to try and use some of the great advice from Talisker! Hope it works!
Subject chosen because I was watching Pride and Prejudice at the time!

Jane Austen

Great flare, such vivacity,
Such wisdom and bravery,
Genius.

Inspiring love stories told,
Immortal never grow old,
Passion.

Characters so big, alive,
Love finding strength to survive
Timeless.

in terms of metre. Some may say "vivacity" and "bravery" don't rhyme well - I say "so what".

I've read Pride & Prejudice, a long time ago - I remember it as OK - perhaps better for girlies (how condescending did that sound?!?!)

I don't share your worship for JA, but this is a better effort for my money.

Oli :)
Glad I'm improving!

I'd reinforce what Oli says, and on the subject of the layout of poetry I have written to you. I used to teach typewritng as one of many subjects, so this is my known area. The typing of plays, poetry, work for publishers etc was one area of the Royal Society of Arts Examination stage III. There is a right and wrong way of doing it, of course. Yours, above, is excellent.

I too thought this read much better than the last piece. Not an Austen fan, but this delivered what you meant in a tighter package.
