On the white throne he sat,

reading the back of a shampoo bottle

for the umpteenth time.

The acts of reading and shitting

had become inextricably linked.

The latter now required the former.

He hoped in earnest that the converse

theorem would take some time to apply.

Laugh? Almost soiled my boxers.

I have a novel (Half of a Yellow Sun) that is my exclusive reading for the loo at the moment. I do worry that if I ever take it to bed to read I may have a Pavlovian experience.

White throne, now that's a nice description. Toilets are clearly the temple of scolarship.

Loved both the poem and Phil's review. Two for the price of one!
