In the face of doubt

Comments welcome.

More solitude than is necessary.
More time alone with myself
than I would wish on anyone.
An examination begins.

Ruthless and unforgiving,
it shreds each small valid point
my rational side might raise,
squashes them with messy

thumps, that only leave more questions
for my quivering, incoherent being
to reply to - stuttering, unconvincing
spineless.

Sh*t! I'm going back into full time education on Monday at Napier University in Edinburgh -and you chose this time to remind me about the pain of exams.

Did I say I liked your work Chloe? Let me rethink... ;)

Yes, angsty and raw - I don't know if this one is worth polishing. the subject is depressing and hard to write about artfully.

Yep, very angsty, but there's worth in the idea of exploring the whole self-evaluation thing. Not sure it comes through as effectively as it might in this though. Difficult, as it's a personal piece, but a step back and examination from a distance might offer up a more effective perspective.
