This is an Ode to a Gap year student who used to work in the library where I do a lot of my writing.

You are so little, so young, so new

Which doesn’t explain why I feel I know you

Your 18 years as long as the memory of one’s leaving

Someone who never got to share the same air as that you are breathing.

Your life is a blessing

For so much beauty to rise from the dark

As one life ends

So another one starts.

From the first love that was lost

Of a prized younger brother

Nature starts a new life

To become my new lover?

So young

Barely free from the succour of your mother

Little can she know of the strong hold

You already have over another.

That your life should be

Plain sailing and sweet

And not get caught on the rocks of bad fortune

Which lie not far beneath.

Maybe Mango wasn't such a deep philosopher after all - he just never sussed out how to post the bleedin' things.

Hello reviewers.

Sorry my poem didn't appear initially but I couldn't get the copy and paste to work on the original.
It's here now tho' if you want to have a read.

Cheers

Chorizos.
