Valedictions are Forever

whoosh. :P Wrote this during Lab class last Friday. :) The teacher was out and our activity had long been finished, and yeah. :P I felt like writing this. xD We had read a poem during English time entitled "Valediction sa Hillcrest" and the word "sa" means at, in English. It was a poem made from a mixture of English and Filipino, something I really didn't like. I liked the word Valediction, though. :P Since I knew exactly what it meant, even though it was my first time to encounter the word. I was studying Latin the other night, and "Vale" means farewell. :)

I used to hate when people leave,
saying their goodbyes.
How they turn their back everytime
to pleading tearful eyes.

You'd think they were really mad,
or very much annoyed.
The way they try and don't look back --
a thing I can't ignore.

There's no excuse of sadness.
When parting to be sure,
you'd kiss and hug because it's hard
without them to endure.

You can't say you were forced
because then you would have fought --
you would have done the other thing,
and now wouldn't be gone.

Valedictions are forever.
And I've never known you at all.

Goodbyes are never easy, but I reckon they're harder for the ones leaving than the ones staying behind - usually.

Interesting piece rilLie - and good to see you back on the site.

My old boss used to say, 'Never say goodbye, just say, til the next time.'
