Chalfonts - Chalfont St Giles - piles.
Me Chalfonts are givin’ us gyp.
They’re swinging round past us ‘ip.
I scream with great feeling
And raise up t’ceiling
When I get ‘um caught in me zip.

Been there, done it, seen the film, worn the T-shirt and rote the dissertation. Of course I wasn’t certain as to which Chalfonts you were alluding to??? Chalfont(s) could refer to: Chalfont St Giles, in Buckinghamshire, England Chalfont St Peter, in Buckinghamshire, England Chalfont Common, in Buckinghamshire, England Little Chalfont, in Buckinghamshire, England Chalfont, Pennsylvania, borough located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania Chalfont & Latimer station, a station on the London Underground Metropolitan Line which serves The Chalfonts Lord Chalfont And then there were the Chalfonts who used to live next door to me, total bastards!! I was pleased when they died unexpectedly from syphilis. All the best, Steve.

Steve, I do think you are being a bit deliberately dumb, here. Phil did say which Chalfont he meant in the pre-amble and none of the others actually rhyme. Get them caught in your zip!! blimey you get pretty bad ones when pregnant but I can't remember ever doing that. I suppose like everything else in Yorkshire you do it bigger and better Jane |

Ah. Cockney rhyming slang... I was beginning to fear I couldn't read English anymore, for I didn't understand a thing about it until I googled Chalfort St. Giles. |
