A gentle, Halloween poem.
Millie gave a great big sigh,
“I’ve lost my hat,” she said.
“Of course you’ve not, you silly witch,
It’s right there on your head.”
“But what about my potion jars,
I’m sure they’ve gone astray.”
“Of course they’ve not, you foolish witch,
They’re right here on display.”
“And now my lovely broom has gone,
It’s flown to pastures new,
“Of course it’s not, you daft old witch,
It’s standing next to you.”
“Oh, wise old cat, what would I do,
Without you by my side.”
“You’ll never know, you dear old witch,
I’ll always be your guide.”

Hello Written by Josie (2500 comments posted) 8th October 2007 | | Oh, the children will love your poem Gill. Really funny. I have written a poem called "Just Learning to Fly". I'll have to dig it out again. The stupid witch can't remember her magic word. She so infuriates her instructor, that in the end, instead of going to a Halloween Party, he gives her a new word. The word means "one way" so she's still circling the moon today. http://www.whiteheadm.co.uk/html/learning_to_fly.html#fly | Pleasant Written by patterjack (1068 comments posted) 8th October 2007 | And good fun -- and unlike so many children's poems just exactly the right length I feel . Enjoyed it -- it would dramatise quite well ! patterjack | HI Gill Written by jean.day (2196 comments posted) 8th October 2007 | | As you say, a nice gentle Halloween poem. No one is going to be frightened by this. And since I spend a lot of time trying to find things I can sympathise with her frustration. | Written by gshelme (152 comments posted) 9th October 2007 | Thanks Josie, Patterjack and Jean. It's the first childrens poem I have written for quite a number of years, so I was slightly apprehensive about posting it. Glad I did after receiving these positive reviews. Thanks again Gill | I liked it Written by BedtimeStoryteller (93 comments posted) 12th October 2007 | Witches and pussy-cats, don't you just love 'em?
