Television,
Fast food
For the mindless
Served by a tired waitress
Earning her daily bread
And Ronald McDonalds'
A one way window into
Other people's lives
Soulless, detached caring
Winging its weary way
Into your passive heart
It won't move a muscle for you
But it will waste
Your little life away
Little
By little
By little

Are we losing out on possible Novel prize winners? Proabably not. If they're doing nothing, then it's working as a subtle form of birth control. There's a good side to everything if you look for it. Anyway, as Larkin said- Most people lead lives of quiet desperation so who is to deny them a little electronic doping. Not sure about the Ronald McDonald line.It didn't seem to belong in there. cheers jane | Written by Phil (6838 comments posted) 8th October 2007 | Can't add much to Jane's astute comments, other than I do enjoy the odd bit of telly - but watch it far less than anyone else I know. I find other ways to eat up my time - here for instance. | Victor Meldrew Written by Bats (13 comments posted) 8th October 2007 | Hi Phil I watch lots of telly Victor meldrew wrote this Cheers | Written by Fledermaus (3448 comments posted) 8th October 2007 | | I'm not to fond of lines being broken off in the middle of a phrase, but the last lines and the content were very nice. TV could do good things, but unfortunately they turned it into opium for the masses... | I agree Written by audrie (454 comments posted) 9th October 2007 | | television is a waste of time, there is so little of interest, at least on my four channels. I'd rather read a good book. | Written by Bottleblondesurfer (3449 comments posted) 9th October 2007 | Pardon my ignorance, I see what you meant about Ronald, must have missed that. BTW I did think this a thought provoking piece, anything that makes you think as you review is a good thing | Written by Toad (105 comments posted) 22nd October 2007 | Jane's first review made me chuckle. I liked it, "One way window" was my favorite line. |
