O brother, where art thou?
Written by fellpony

I expect he'll be embarrassed, but pleased that somebody's missed him!

there is a scent I miss –
peaty, earthy? I can’t quite
pin it down;
electrons that ping off phosphorus
mingle red, green and blue
too crudely –
you subvert the web,
subtly planting
dewdrop sparkles, mist-wreathed hills,
blue-tits and wagtails;
chant love poems, hate poems;
etch coal pits and storm-torn coasts,
cheer, scathe.

Laughter and genius.

Uncap the whisky.
Not too much water.
Here’s to you
Talisker.

I wonder you didn't complete the phrase -Oh brother where art thou,Sue.
It's funny Josie and I were talking about him just the other day. I wonder if his ears were burning? It was all nice things though. I guess his head is too full of studying to bother with poetry,pity You've summed him all up well, maybe just add, never boring.

Yes, where is the Bard of Lothian? We miss his cruel honesty. Nice Poem fellpony.

I'm sure Oli will reappear when he's ready. Squeezing into a white tunic can be quite tiring! Perhaps he's resting off emptying bedpans instead of writing.

If you're out there Oli, take care.

Phil.

So dear Oliver has gone AWOL!? Well, I can't say I'm surprised. He was heading for a brakdown. All that battling with the old Sauce. Then acting the goat on the Checkout. Then the NHS!! I could see it coming. Mind, it was when he finally admitted to supporting the Glasgow Celtic I knew he had seriously lost it. Tragic really. Probably been Certified and Committed. That's what happens to most Celtic supporters in the end. Its having to live in the shadow of the like of Manchester United that gets to them all in the end.They just flip. Start writing poetry. And we all know once you start writing poetry its downhill all the way to the Funny Farm from there.

I have to be honest and say that I am heartily sorry to hear of Oliver's misfortune. He was a good old egg. Actually I really liked th' ol' shamless lig! He will be sorely missed by his friends; though not half as sorely as by his foes!! Who will we look to now to put a rocket up the crack of the pretentious goons?

PS Gerard, I was going to say that Requiescat doesn't have an N in it unless there's more than one person resting, but come to think of it, Oli can be several people on the same day so perhaps we should let it stand.
Funny...

Robert Graves was prematurely pronounced dead too. Strange happenstance to be studying in the same old building at Craiglockhart where Owen and Sassoon wrote many of their masterpieces e.g. Anthem for Doomed Youth & Dulce et Decorum Est around 90 years ago. I can see their ghosts wandering on the lawns, and smoking in the newly constructed external smoking shelters.

How sweet of you Sue! I was fairly reduced to lachrymation by the sentiments. Not until one "dies" does one realise the extent of the admiration, nay fondness, nay LOVE in which one is held!

As for you Gerry! No doubt the "news" of my demise was received in Saffron Walden with ticker tape and Souza marches. Now the mighty Celts have put last years winners to the sword, the Manky Mancs, so easily swept aside last time, are but grist to the mill, bring it on!

My other friends, Phil, Jane, Batty et al - what can I say? The love is reciprocated exponentialy.

Being so up to the pharynx in urinalysis, IV drug administration and healthcare acquired infection does tend to stifle the muse somewhat. I am however working with my fellow global conspirators on the "Pirene's Fountain" project - an online poetry journal and outlet for radical rhymers...watch this space for details...

Love you all,

Oli :)

I fear you may come to regret your bravado, My Friend. Lightning does not strike twice in the same place and next time we are called upon to display our extensive talents in your pokey little ground we will take good care TO STICK IT UP YOU!!

Jock Stein eat my pants!!

SLAN!

PS. Good to see you back. We thought you had gone under a bus or something.
I'm so glad

that reports of your "death" have been greatly exaggerated, me old flower. I had missed the info about your transmogrification from cashier to medico - possibly around the same time as I was dopily listening to drills and hammers in theatre (medical) myself?

May the ghosts of Owen and Sassoon inspire your Muse.

Good!

As I had been away from GW for a while, due to traumatic family upsets, I hadn't known of Talisker's change from Tesco to Hospital.

I was wondering why we hadn't seen his caustic comments lately. I really missed them.

I'm still not sure if you are having treatment or if you are undergoing a job change! But, whatever, all the best, Oli, and get well soon.

Healing vibes!!

Audrie
