Casually God
By andybyers
19 October 2007
I scribbled this poem twenty years ago this upcoming winter while on the bus on the way to university.  At the time, I intended it mainly literally, though over the intervening years it came to me to suggest something about God, like a child who gleefully created the world and then scampered off to the next distraction, leaving us abandoned... benign neglect.  Initially untitled, the poem acquired the current title a few years ago when I dug it out of a tiny notebook I carried in my winter jacket during that long ago moment in my life (indeed, I'm looking at it right now... ah, memories...).

Snowmen die
In the deserted schoolyard
Recess is over
Creation forgotten
