Just Like Your Father
He sat there, a boy of six, soaking in the warm, water filled bathtub. Suddenly he hunched
over, as if he were to throw up. However, it wasn't the contents of his stomach
bothering him. It was his nose, or rather the blood drop coming from it. The boy watched the
droplet of blood fall from his nose to the water where it then diluted. The boy continues to
stare down towards the blood cloud formed in the water. There was no expression on his face,
just a deadly stare, with a hint of fear in his eyes. His mouth suddenly became full, and he
choked out a mouthful of blood. He began to cry, but knowingly he touched his tears seeing
that they were red. 'One last place to check' he thought to himself as he grabbed
his blood soaked ears. Blood rivers then began flowing from every opening on his head. There
was no pain, as all of his sensors had been distracted from the pain of his shoulder bald
dislocating then tearing out his back. Small thorns now showed through his skin. 'Whats
going on?' he thought to himself and as those words hit his brain memories flowed back.
His father, this had happened many times to him, but then he had to leave. 'Would I have
to leave as well?' he thought sadly. At this thought he became scared, not at the
thought od dying or leaving, but at who would come through the room soon enough. For hours
he dwelled on that thought.
His veins were now empty. His vision was a little blurry and he felt a little dizzy. Creeak-
he heard a door open a few rooms away. She's awake. The bathroom door opened and in
walks his mother. Her charming face brought back memories of her and his father fighting all
the time. She took on glance at the thick red bathwater and her face becam emotionless. The
mother slowly walks over to the tub and kneels. She stares for minutes, seemingly like
hours. Then suddenly whack- she smacks the childs face forcing it to face the wall.
"Your just like your father," the words like daggers in his heart, as she
spitefully speaks them. He slowly turns his head to meet her eyes, and as they meet she
closes hers quickly and screams. For in place of his normal childhood eyes lay nothing but
white and a twelve pointed black star in the middle. "How dare you, how dare you try
and use that on me!" she yells. She turns and leaves with these words "How could
anyone love you if I don't?" and she leaves the house and his life forever.
As his sight returned to normal and the dizzyness faded, the boy got out tof the bathtub.
"What happened?" he said as he felt his sore head. "I must of fainted in the
bath" The boy of six had the feeling of a hangover. Not a pretty sight. He got dressed
quickly unaware of the past occurneces, then waited in the lounge room in silence, waiting
for his mother to wake up. Somewhere deep inside he knew she wasnt there, but he sat there
anyway in futile hope. Suddenly there was a knock at the door. The child slowly went to it
and opened it. There was a dark skinned man and a woman who was as white as a ghost. He
welcomed them in, even though they were strangers, and sat down again An hour passed before
the dark man spoke. "You do know who we are, right?" he asked. 'That
voice,' the boy thought and suddenly he knew who they were. His fathers friends.
Countless times they'd pick up his father for a night country drive. Each time his
mother would light a candle and pray. The child had forgotten the question, but the two
adults knew he knew. "What is your human name?" the dark one questioned. Puzzled
the boy opened his mouth but was interrupted by the white one. "Forget it!, from now on
you'll go by the name Andel Candaress, any questions?" The child had only one,
"Can I still live a normal life?, like going to school" the two adults looked at
each other, then the ghostly one spoke. "Yes, you've been through alot today, we
can give you a normal life." The dark one stood up "come on, its time to take you
out, I bet your hungry" there was an eerie smirk on his face. "What am I?"
Andel Candaress asked. The two answered in unision "Your just like your father"
