the joys of despair

I can hear myself.
I think I’m a bit afraid.
“It must be wonderful”
she said, “being hurt that badly”.

She followed me home that night.
I wish she hadn’t stayed.
The pain she inflicted
on me, lasted ‘til morning.

The last I ever saw of her
was the red haze created
from my bleeding eyes.
She knew, kept her souvenir.

And to my knowledge
I have never hated
anyone like that ever.
God knows, why she wanted to kill me.

I wanted to see if this was philosophically angsty as the title suggested or where you sending up the genre, and after reading it I'm still not sure. Is it about a love affair or a visit to an S&M parlour?
Very cryptic

This is an odd one, but really has some wonderful lines to roll around and around your brain trying to think up some incredibly intellectual subtext for. But it's not forthcoming, but who cares? A great atmosphere cradled in some great imagery wrapped snugly with a blanket of intriguing characters and their pre-scenic action.

Good, I like it.
