Surely we had so many dreams…

Take me to the edge my friend
Show me your dreams of life and liberty defined
We’ll skip past time to somewhere new
Escape to a once gone nearly forgotten land

How have we lasted so long my friend?
Lasted with out dreams or love or sense to find
History has forsaken us now it seems
Surely we had so many hopes, once upon a time?

I’m so so old and frail my friend
Not in body or mind but spirit and wasted life
I’m knee deep in rusted promises to oneself
Forgotten disturbance keeping me just about alive

Could I go back to a childhood my friend?
As children the sky was only the start of the limits
The stars that shined fall still on us all
A rounded life where we must keep all our dreams alive

I liked this a great deal, a good piece of work.

Oh, if only the young could realize that they will not be young forever and each day should be a day of working towards fulfilling dreams, not letting life drift past wastefully! All too often people realize this too late. Sad words, but remember that you are never too old to fulfil a dream.a Never!

Youth is wasted on the young they say, how true. But I agree with Josie that you're never too old, a beautiful poem.

I liked the 'ring' of this - although iot was interupted a couple of times by: oneself -perhaps myself would work, and shined- perhaps shone.

Maybe a little picky.

Liked it.

Phil.
