Monolith exorcism

A new one. This one's kinda crazy. Tell what you think. I'd like some interpretation on this one. Anything would be good. Thanks

We bow to give it name.

We praise to give it life.

Concentric circles wrap around,

Like ripples in the sand.

Our prayers stir up the wind;

Gritty congestion in our lungs.

The pillar peers from above,

An eerie smile across the stone:

Sickly demon indwelling.

Where has the god gone?

I am the rusty nail sticking

From the submissive board.

The collective mindless worship

Like ringing in my ears.

I want to ascend to the top

Of this horrid obelisk devil;

Deface the beastly image

Of our wanton dependence.

I am just a lowly servant,

Wielder of the hammer;

Tongue like an earthquake,

Shaking innocence below.

Release the demon inside;

Storm breaks up my footing.

I fall into the crowd below,

Jolted awake inside a tomb,

Static prison walls around me.

It’s all just bloody idealism,

Masochistic nightmare vision:

I love the way I kill my calm.

Eyeless bishop proceed my way.

Bless the motherfucking symphony.

Musical note to crack my faith;

Shake your bell to ward away my soul.

As I’m currently posting my Hell’s Angel vignettes, I was very much drawn to your title.
For me, it was too long and tended toward overstress: Sickly demon - horrid obelisk devil - beastly image - etc.

Assuming that I haven’t completely misinterpreted this piece, and it is about God as a Devil (and vice versa), it could have done with (IMO) a bit more religious terminology, e.g.; Genuflect and give it name, pray to give it life.

There were some lines that worked well, “Collective mindless worship, ringing in my ears” being my favourite.

And I fully intend to steal, rework and use your last stanza.

Sightless bishop gaze my way,
Bless this motherfucker.
Ring the bells and steel my soul;
Cacophony to crush resolve.

Bless you, my child,
Steve.
