Bogeys

This is for my friends daughter Charlotte who accused her dad last week of stuffing bogeys up her nose in her sleep and then wanted to know if not him then who was it?

BOGEYS

Who is it I wonder
Who do you suppose
Who puts all the bogeys up into my nose?

I know about Christmas
How the presents appear
Into my stocking every year

I know there's a fairy
Who borrows my teeth
lifts up my pillow and crawls underneath

Then leaves me a coin
Of silver or gold
What she does with those teeth has never been told

I know how the food
Gets into the larder
And when it's left out, why the bread it gets harder

I know how in winter
The world becomes white
And how millions of stars, appear in the night

But who is it I wonder
Who do you suppose
Who puts all the bogeys up into my nose?

Is it a Pixie
Or just a small Elf
Who has a large stock of them up on his shelf

And every night
He sneaks in my room
And stuffs them all up with his pixie style broom

Or maybe away
In the land of the fairies
A wicked one lives who is greenish and hairy

And all of her babies
A massive collection
She shoves up our noses, a fairy injection

They sleep there all night
In their nostril shaped cot
And when they come out, they leave us with snot

So who is it I wonder
Who do you suppose
Who puts all the bogeys up into my nose?

Who ever it is
I think they are kind
So I'll no longer pick what they've left me behind!

Hmmm - I wonder who? ha ha - And they seem to be around more in the winter months! Father christmas, obviously. Only one little thing I would say: For the age group that you have written this for (and I guess it is younger children), I think it may be a little long. I may be wrong though, and you can discover the answer from your own children Paula.

If it's not accompanied with pictures my 4 year old can't concentrate for more than a line but most of my ideas are based on rhyming picture books rather than poems i.e. dr seusse style or Mr magnolia by Quentin Blake but getting my eldest to listen to me is difficult at the best of times, she thinks all my poems are pants but she's quick to ask me to read them to her friends who really like them especially ones about bogeys , poo or death.

Bogeys - every child's favourite subject - including this one. Enjoyed.
