What shall I eat?
By punchy

A follow on from- What shall I be?
since starting this poem I have eaten 4 biscuits, an orange , a tuna fish sarny, peanut butter on toast and that was after breakfast this morning.

my tummy is rumbly
I think it is hungry
what do I fancy
what shall I eat?

Something that's saucy or crumbly and savoury
Something with gravy or just something sweet
Something that's dippy but nothing that's bitty
Or lumpy and drippy or makes me repeat
Nothing too chewy or mushy or gooey
Or smelly like pooey and served up with meat
Just something crunchy and melt in the mouthy
yummy and scrummy what shall I eat?

I quite like potato but not with tomato
It has to be chopped up and fried cos that's nice
and goes really nicely with something that's spicy
like chilli con carni, but that's best with rice

I do like my pastry, with apple it's tasty
but that's too desserty and I need a lunch
There's always a sarnie with beef pepperami
but that's a bit sickly, oh what should I munch?

maybe a crepe, they taste really great
when filled with a curry and topped with a cream
or a nice chicken goulash with veggies and mash
or chicken chasseure, or chicken supreme

Or a big crispy salad served up in a dish
with balsamic dressing and followed by fish
that's griddled or pan fried in lemon and oil
with seasonal beans just brought to the boil

my tummy is rumbly
I think it is hungry
what do I fancy
what shall I eat?

something quite simple that won't give me pimples
something that's healthy, organic and green
nothing that's roasted cos that makes me bloated
and nothing with garlic , the smells too obscene

An apple, a carrot, a turnip , a pea
A pumpkin,a peanut, a parsnip, a seed

Cucumber, spam, white bread and jam
A bagel with mustard and stuffed full of ham

Burger and bun, Sausage and mash
Pie and chips, corn beef hash

livers, kidneys,breasts, hearts
rumps, thighs, where do I start
what shall I eat, what do I need
my tummy is empty, it needs a good feed

Let's open the fridge and have a quick look
before I flick through my recipe book

Oh no it can't be, life is unfair
my fridge and my cupboards are totally bare

I'll just have to wait 'till morning arrives
I'll go back to bed, it's quarter to five

Hm... Gets me hungry. Nice rhyme and rythm. Luckily for children the fridge miraculously fills itself :grin
