War or Wonder?
By Hayfa
29 November 2007

Just thinking about war and people losing their lives everyday is despicable, and the way that the world is revolutionizing drolly yet fatally makes me very resentful. Personally, I don't think it's fair that innocent people get killed because two political members can't resort to PEACE. It disgusts me.

War or Wonder?

Dead. Dead. Dead.
Exactly how many more?
One found on the road
and one left on the door.

Are us humans just a waste?
That no one seems to care about
or can we be left to live in grace?
Just like wanted without doubt.

A baby without a mother
like a rose with no stem.
A woman without her lover
that can never mend.

Sometimes I merely wonder
will this war ever halt.
I guess I should not ponder
It's not the nation's fault.

The world has become witty
not accepting the actuality
But God blesses humanity
For He is the One with sanity.

I suppose there will always be war while the people who wage it don't have to go.
It was a thoughtful work. I particularly like the 2nd and 3rd verses, though you lost me at the end, for if God does bless humanity he has a strange way of doing it,as most of the wars now have a religious base. If there was no God so many wars would stop

I totally respect your view and I totally agree that nowadays the foundation of wars is religion.. but it'd be nice if there was peace and less people. :)

less people dying..

The only reason is people's desire for power. Religion only comes in handy as a propaganda tool, but for instance in Latin America it's ideology and in Africa tribalism which take that place.

Religion is just one of the many weapons used, not the cause.

Some clear messages (especially in the last two stanzas) in this poem, which people might easily forget and thus should perhaps be mentioned every now and then in poems like this one.

hey Fledermaus, I know what you're saying and it's not wrong, but what I kind of meant was in today's society, 'Islamophobia' is increasing and that causes lots of problemes... But I do agree with you too because my poem talks about all war really.. thanks

Yes I echo wt, keep writing. You have certainly aroused some thoughts and that is what writing is all about, whether you agree with the sentiments or not.
I assumed the poem had a wider theme about all war and my comments were not aimed at any one religion. I do not single out Islam but am disturbed by all of them. I still liked the 2nd and 3rd verses, they were very inclusive with a universal theme.

Thanks...but hey I didn't mean it in a way that you singled Islam, but be honest, Islamophobia was the only religion I could think of that has a reputation in society...

Thank you BBS xx

sadly war , killing etc is a fact of human nature, always as been, is today, always will be.

we don't need a lot to get us going on a killing spree.

Yes but I think it's getting abit too much as power is the main of war. Why can't the leaders just rule their own country and live in peace... that's my opinion... x
