Arcane (Azhnia #10) Chapter 5 & 6

Chapter 5

Atlas dropped us of on the road alongside the forest edge nearly half an hour later, Me Keaden and Brox. The forest was quiet at this time the only noise I could hear was of our own feet moving through the forest undergrowth. It was pitch black so I had illuminated my hand and poured the light in front of us to lighten our surroundings... A few trees groaned as small animals scampered as we neared, but all was quiet.
I had my jacket on and my equipment, back pack etc... Keaden hadn’t bothered to get much; he focuses his fighting on his strength. But I made him take his cane.
Before long we were on the dirt road leading to the house.
"You ok? Your a little quiet?" I said to Keaden
"Fine, just don’t want to ruin the silence" He answered with a forced smile.
"So what do you think these things are?" I asked
"Dunno...were nearly there aren’t we?" He stopped
"Yeah, what’s wrong?" I looked at Brox he had picked up a whiff of something familiar, we turned the corner of the path and the Shack came into view. There was a light coming from the room inside, Keaden immediately stopped and pitched down with his hand to the ground and started sniffing...
"There’s someone in there..." Keaden growled, Brox gave him a rumble from his throat to offer some sort of agreement... but I could tell there was something familiar going on in Brox' head... then it hit me, Seph the guy we met that morning. If it was I wasn’t about to scare the poor guy witless by sending a wolf and a brute of a werewolf in there to beat him down before questioning...
"I think I know who it is. Its ok I will go first..." I said and took a step forward, but Keaden stepped in front of me,
"Oh no you don’t, I’m going in first..." Keaden warned as if the decision had already been made, he started turning around...
"Hey, if the guy is who I think it is, he's alright honestly, we met him this morning, I will go first"
 "But..." he protested
"No buts wait here, I will call you when its ok to come in" I started walking and Brox followed "You wait with Keaden, I know what your like with him" he growled his disagreement, but I held his stare and he walked over to Keaden and sat down ready.
I abandoned my light source and slowly and quietly walked to the door... I considered knocking but its not his house why should I ask his permission to enter? I walked over and before walking in I spread my mana into the room to see what was happening in there,
The fire was lit, and there was just one guy in there, and he was ready for us, he stood behind the door holding some heavy object, he was waiting to surprise attack me. Some surprise, better not keep him waiting, I pulled my mana back to conserve energy, then made for the door handle.
I put some mana over him through the door and waited until I was in view, just incise he wouldn’t attack if he saw it was me, but he did. I just moved past the door and I heard him start to strike me on the head but I already had him, I forced my mana to push him up against the wall and I pulled the candelabra from his hand and threw it across the room. "HEY, hey calm down, ok, its me, the friendly one" I smiled at him and saw some level of relief flow over him, "Its ok I'm not going to hurt you ok, if I wanted to I would be doing it now, right"
"You have me pinned up against a wall" he replied wittily
"That’s very true, yes, but when you understand that I’m only here to talk I will let you down, Ok shall I let you down..."
"Are your two friends out side going to be joining us?"
"Well yeah...how you did... never mind here" I let him go "you ok?"
 "Yeah thanks for the memory"
"Your welcome" I opened the door and signalled for them to come in, in under 3 seconds they were in the room "This is Keaden and you have already met Brox"
 "What are you?" Keaden interrupted
"He's a Vampire, Keaden chill out ok; the papers are in the drawer over there. Brox go see if you can smell anything hidden, a book or pages or something..."
"What are you doing here? What are you looking for?"
"We are researching something called the Arcane Relics and the guy who used to live here..."
 "Corwell Valeice" Seph said
"Yeah..." I looked a little confused "He researched them, so were here to find anything else he knew about them"
"Got them..." Keaden said he glared at Seph
"The Arcane Relics is that why you were at the temple today?" Seph said
"No...What do you know about them?" I pushed
"Not much only that Corwell studied them, and left one in the forest temple here"
"There’s one in the ruins?" I asked
"Yes..." his stomach growled, Brox poked his head from around the door to look..."Sorry, yes there is" looking at him I couldn’t help noticing how worn he looked. He was really skinny and his face drawn, he must not have eaten or fed in days...
"Maybe you can help us... you should come back to our manor and..."
 "NO WAY" Keaden stated
 I defended
"We don’t know anything about him, and you expect us to welcome him into our home? Just like that? No way. Mum wont allow it and neither will I" I stared at him levelly...
"Well we will take him back, keep him for one night, talk it over with Adell, see what he knows about the Relics, and..." I started to tell Keaden
"It wont be necessary, really I’m fine" Seph said unsurely,
"I don’t care, your coming with us I cant leave you like this, nowhere to stay or eat!"
 "Leun!"
 "Keaden!"
"He’s a vampire he doesn’t have to eat"
"No but he has to feed"
"FINE..." He stormed out; he had that way of making me feel bad, like it was all my fault, like I started it. But I didn’t care, I wasn’t the only one involved this time and he needs to learn to stop being so damn territorial... even if it is in his nature to protect what he knows from what he doesn’t.
"Really, you don’t need to do this, I will be fine..."
"Well even if your willing to forgo a meal we could still use your help with this" I picked up the papers Keaden left on the desk and put them in my bag. He started to say something but Brox had started to scratch something in the bedroom he called our attention by growling, we walked in and found him trying to dig up the floor boards.
 "What’s he found?" Seph asked
"Old paper?" I could only wonder that there was a hidden space under the floorboards with more documents perhaps. "Brox, its ok. I will try and get it out..." I moved over and poured some mana through the floor boards I closed me eyes and felt through it... yes there was something there... it was late to look for a hidden switch and I don’t think old Corwell would object to me ripping the floor open, so I let go of the papers and hardened my mana on the floorboards, then...
- CRACK -

I levitated the pieces and moved them away... I looked down at what looked like an older version of one of Adell’s Grimoir’s, I levitated it up to me and looked over it, I blew the dust away and looked for a title... but it didn’t have one.
"Wow... you really are a mage? That is impressive..." Seph smiled, I smiled back then carefully put the book into my bag
"Come on, Kelva's boyfriend Atlas is waiting for us on the road alongside the forest."
"I'm not sure its a good idea. Are you sure I’m welcome?"
"Keaden is always like that when he meets someone for the first time, he will warm up to you when he gets to know you. Kelva knows you, Adell is really nice and Atlas keeps himself to himself so don’t expect him to harbour a grudge, Heck even Brox hasn’t growled at you this time" Brox snorted and walked out. I giggled at him. I looked to Seph who heeded the Idea and agreed with a nod. I put the fire out with some sand found in a bucket by the fireplace. Then I expelled a little mana to put the candles out. I re-lit my hand light then we left.

We got back to the Car about 15 minutes later. I saw Keaden in the front seat looking Annoyed. I ignored him. Atlas got out of the Drivers seat and came over to us...
"What’s going on?" he asked "Keaden's a bit miffed"
"This is Seph, he is going to help us with researching the relics" I replied
"Are you sure that’s wise?" he looked gingerly at Seph who looked really uncomfortable.
"Atlas you have been listening to Keaden for too long. Lets just get back ok, we can talk about it later..."
"Fair enough" he turned around and got back in the car, we followed. We set of back to the Embreya Manor. Keaden didn’t say a word.

The front doors flew open; Keaden silently strode across the entrance hall and up the stairs...
"Goodnight Darling" I said sarcastically. Adell walked into the hall to greet us,
"What’s up with..." her gaze settled on Seph.”...ah, Say no more" I introduced him and told her he had some knowledge of the Relics...
"I see, well, welcome Seph" she greeted him with a smile, Seph clearly wasn’t expecting this, he stared at her almost confused and she ushered us into the Study.
"See, told you she was nice..." I told him
We walked in and Kelva rose from the sofa holding a heavy book in her hands, "Seph? Erm... this is an unexpected surprise," She looked at me then to Atlas then back to Seph. "Hi," She smiled to him.
"Nice to see you again Kelva, you don’t seem as much the bad-ass I met this morning" he smiled
"Aww... you say the sweetest things. Now we looked through our books to find anything on clairvoyance and came up with a few things... Where’s Keaden?" she asked suddenly.
"Upstairs, sulking because I brought a guest home..." I said flatly as we all found a seat "What did you find?"
"Oh right, well first we could devise a spell to exorcise him from the house..." Kelva started
"I put my bid in for that one" Atlas piped up
"...Or we could set up an alter somewhere in the house that makes all spirits in the domain visible to the human eye"
"How does that work?" I asked
"By creating a frequency flux," Adell answered "Basically, it creates a connection between our frequency or level with there’s."
"Is that safe to do? Messing around with the spiritual borders?" Atlas asked
"That’s the problem, we don’t know, It has been done, but no long term effects have been documented, meaning who ever tried it, said it worked and it works remarkably well apparently... but nothing is said about long term use... so we don’t know what could happen"
"Well what if we set it up and break it after we have used it? And set it up every time we want to use it?" I asked
"We cant do that because one of the ingredients to the potion required to create the spell is pretty rare and hard to get a hold of. The Vandia Flower is still being grown but its root required can take up to 5 years to mature to the state necessary for the spell, we have some but not enough for multiple castings. So if we were to set it up we want to try and make it permanent if we can" Kelva stated
 "Yeah I see" I said
"I take it you have a ghost" Seph asked
"Yeah. I dont know where he came from but he appeared today..." I started
"...and attacked me" Atlas said "hence the broken door on the way in"
"He threw the door at you?" Seph asked partly astonished
"No, it was vice versa. He threw me at the door" Atlas corrected him. It wasn’t funny but I couldn’t help smiling at him, I put my head down.
"Is that your book of spells, shadows or your Grimoir’s?"
"You just happen to know the different types?" Kelva Quizzed
"Magic was never something I understood so I looked into it, took an interest if you will... may I?" he gestured to her book,
"Ah... Sure. Just be careful with it, its old" Kelva handed it over...
"May I ask what it is your looking for?" Adell asked
"Just an idea... you have a ghost you cant communicate with, I think that you were focusing on changing him or our atmosphere to suit us... Instead of changing the area... why not change the people" He stopped at a page and passed it to Kelva, she had a read of what he found, then she looked at him...
"Pretty good idea" she smiled and looked at him as she passed the book to her mother
"What’s a 'pretty good idea'?" Atlas said
"An atuneing spell... fascinating" Adell said as she read through it "I was considering something similar but I wanted to leave tampering with ourselves as a last resort..."
 "Tampering?" I quoted
"I don’t like it..." Atlas said firmly
"Basically we alter our spiritual awareness to connect or see the spirit on that frequency... is it permanent?" Kelva turned to Adell
"No," she answered "but it can last for as long as you want by changing the amount of darell wood chips you put into the basin, the ingredients don’t look to difficult we could try it tomorrow if you wish" Adell said to Kelva
"Tell you what, I will get Seph some supper then settle him into one of the guest rooms, while you talk this through, that ok?" I immediately noticed something glow in his eyes, I knew he was hungry.
"Yes of course," Adell said "Pleasure to meet you Seph, I shall speak to you in the morning"
"Thank you Mrs. Embreya" he said and nodded is head politely.
"Please, call me Adell" She smiled and turned her attention to the book again.
"Oh, before I forget, the notes are in my bag, and Brox found a book under a floor board, if you want to have a gander" I said. Kelva shot up in interest.
"No, we will leave it until tomorrow, too much has happened for one day" Adell countered. Something we all agreed on.
Me and Seph walked into the Kitchen and I opened the fridge.
"What do you want? We have sandwiches, meat, cereal, fruit, salads...ah, have a look" I turned to him but he had an uneasy expression on his face...
"Do you have any...you know?" he said quietly. I had a guess of what he meant but I didn’t want to say
"What?" I asked but I knew what he wanted.
"You know...blood" he was looking straight at the floor. I knew that was what he wanted
"Well, I have 8 pints in me but unfortunately I need it" he forced a smile "I will have some brought up from the butchers tomorrow if that’s ok? But if you don’t mind my asking...what did you do for blood when you were at the old shack?" he looked to the side and weighed his response.
"I didn’t, not properly, just any stray animal I saw... nothing to big" It was nearly a whisper, I could barely hear him.
"Damn!" I said quietly "...well have a look in here, I think we have some raw meat somewhere, if that’s any good... sorry we don’t cater for many vampires so I’m a little rusty to knowing what you might need..." he smiled and moved to the fridge, he grabbed a few trays of meat and some other things and put them on the counter... I showed him to the drinks and left to sort out a spare room.
I picked the room directly across from mine and Keaden' down the corridor and next to Adell's. After sorting out the bed and clearing out the drawers I went and got some of my spare clothes for him. I walked into my room for them half expecting Keaden to kick off but he was asleep on top of the bed fully clothed with his jacket and shoes still on. I quietly went to my dresser and pulled out some clothes. The darkest I could find then made my way to his room and placed them on his bed.
I made my way back down to the Kitchen. He had finished eating, I was going to comment on how fast he ate but he looked a little drowsy so I decided not to.
"Everything’s ready, captain, I will take you up now" I said
"Thanks" he smiled, as we reached the top of the stairs I pointed out the different rooms and who slept where. Then I showed him to his room. "This is too big"
"No its not, here I put some of my spare clothes on there for you to change into since you don’t have any with you...” I said, he sat on the bed and closed his eyes.
"Thanks, I really appreciate all this. You really didn’t have to..." he said quietly
"Its nothing really. I will let you get to sleep, you look bushed. I will see you in the morning" I turned and left the room.
 "Good night" he replied

I walked down the corridor to my room. I walked through the door, Keaden hadn’t moved his position. He was still led there, Jacket on, feet out of bed. I sat at he bottom of the bed looking at him. Why did he have to be so damn protective? I carefully took his shoes of and put them in the corner, I cast some mana to lift up some of his weight, then I lifted him and started to take of his jacket.
"You want me to say sorry?" he mumbled with closed eyes, as I took his shoes off.
"I don’t want you to say anything you don’t want to" I said quietly,
"I don’t trust him..." he said with a soft yet firm voice
"You don’t trust anybody you don’t know" I took his Jacket off
"And he’s here in my home."
"Our home" I corrected "and through my invitation. I don’t expect you to trust him, but I want you to trust me" I said, now undoing and sliding of his pants.
"I do, but he might be a threat." he said, he lowered his head to my shoulder, as I lay beside him. I put my arm around him.
"Or he might not be" he admitted defeat, and decided to let me have my way I guess. He grumbled something that I took as a fine have it your way, and then I laid him back down. I got up and went into the bathroom to get changed for bed; I came back in noticing that he had changed into just his bed pants. It was a warm night and he was lying on top of the bedding. I crawled up next to him; he put his arm around the back of my head so I leaned into him resting my head on his chest, and then slowly fell asleep.

Chapter 6

"ATTENTION! ALL AGENTS ARE TO REPORT TO THE WAR ROOM IMMEDIATELY!" Kelva shouted in an unusually loud and powerful voice.
What’s wrong with you?" Keaden shouted. She cleared her throat.
"Cool isn’t it. Its a Vocal Spell I just found in the back of one of my old Journals"
"That’s nice, NOW GET OUT" Keaden said
"Your such a grumpy-ass in the morning" she said in a playful-five year old-toothless voice
"Tell me about it" I groaned with a pillow over my head, he poked me.
"Anyway, we need you down stairs, Get Up!" She said slamming the door behind her.
"Why is it...we can go months or boredom with nothing happening... No conspiracies, No ancient artefacts, No ghosts, No NOTHING...then suddenly...everything comes at once? “I grumbled, as I twisted round to look at Keaden who was dozing in and out... "What time is it?" Keaden moved to the side and picked up his watch. He growled at the time.
"Its half eight... This better be good"

"Ok, sorry we have to be up this early but this is a little...BIG" Kelva said, me, Adell, Keaden and Kelva sat in the study, Seph, I assumed he was still in bed. And I didn’t know where Atlas was. "First off I need you Keaden to go change then run down to the old shack, get the piece of paper that I left there"
"Yeah I saw it in the drawer, why?" Keaden said looking puzzled
"I will explain later we don’t have much time... go"
 "What? Go now?" he exclaimed
"No, Keaden how’s a week on your birthday? Of course now, and be as quick as you can. Take Brox with you, you will run faster if he’s racing you..."
"Ok... I should be half an hour or so..." still looking slightly confused, he started taking his shirt of as he walked out the door. Adell took over
"Last night I was reading through some of the papers in bed and came across this..." she handed me a piece of paper "Its an Alter, according to that it is located on Dualcia Island south east of Falvia. I was up all night reading through these, I even took advantage of an insomnia spell I am privy to. According to these the Relics are... an impossibility..." she let herself pull a face of confusion.
"Well judging by some of the stuff we have seen and that look on your face, I'm going to take a stab at it being possible" I said looking at the page.
"Unfortunately... Apparently some of these relics were used in multiple ceremonial purposes by the people who made them. But they did something. You have heard of summoning stones right..."
"Yeah" I replied, this was a subject I was interested in...
"Well as you know a summoning stone, can only be used by who ever it deems worthy or who it chooses. But these, they will adapt to anybody... And for those who are weak willed and who cant tame them, these relics will corrupt and manipulate them."
 "How?" I asked
"Well these Relics have a mind of there own because they are alive or have a living entity in them. They can be used to summon the creature or entity out or can use and control the element or power which it represents"
"Hence the green lightning" I said looking to Kelva
"That’s right, I think I was using a relic in that dream" Kelva finished.
"Anyway, like I said, since these things have a will of there own they can very well manipulate and eventually control the person who is in possession of them" Adell stated
"The more you use them the more adept you get at using there power, you form a bond with it, the stronger the bond the more you can channel it, basically" said Kelva.
"I see. Are they possessed by some sort of demon? Are they all manipulative?" I asked
"As far as we can tell, the Entities are some sort of...reflection of the person who created them, or at least inspired by, so realistically the artefacts will have their own personalities. I think that some will be good, some bad, and some in-between. But their is no way of telling..." Kelva said
"And for some people that distinction is Irrelevant" Seph walked in,
"Morning, you sleep well?" I asked
"Not really... but its not due to your hospitality" he said, he looked really rough, dark circles under his eyes, slurred posture and slow movements... he was withdrawn.
"If its due to your Vampirism feeding habits, then don’t worry I got Atlas to get some blood from the meat market, it wont be human blood but its the best we can do on short notice. He wont be long" I gave Kelva a he’s-not-in-the-mood-for-your-manners-so-behave look and she replied with a shake of her head. He did look somewhat relaxed.
"That’s very generous of you. Thank you" he said quietly, she nodded a don’t-mention-it
"Who were you referring to before? About the distinction being irrelevant?" I asked
"I really appreciate everything you have done for me, and I think a bit of honesty is the least I could do in thanks..." we heard the front door open and Seph suddenly appeared at the door of the Study. He was breathing heavily. "Excuse me" he uttered then he opened the door. I followed.
By the time I got to the door Seph was already at the far side of the hall behind Atlas, Atlas not knowing he was there. When he looked over to me with a smile and nod, I gestured to the figure behind him, Atlas turned and was startled by Seph's expression "Did you get it?" he said his voice seeming stretched, but his eyes were on one of the bags
"What? Oh" he put his bags down and opened one he was glaring at. It was full of tin canisters, Seph's hand snapped around one of the canisters and by the time Atlas looked up to him, Seph was sat half way up the stairs, drinking from the can heavily... I barely saw him move, he was so quick. But he was a Vampire and like a Werewolf or Lycan is known for there human strength, they are highly recognised for there agility.
I walked to the stairs and started up them slowly. I looked at him, his eyes closed, legs hunched close and shaking. If I didn’t know any better I would say he was being starved and beaten. I turned and gestured for another can from Atlas, he threw it up to me, and I nearly dropped it since it was heavier than I first anticipated. I carried it up and placed it next to Seph. A split second after I put the canister down he snapped it up opened it and was gulping it down as if he hadn’t moved. The empty canister falling at his side, then rolling down a few steps.
"We will wait for you in the Study, we can talk then..." I said then turned around and went back to our morning meeting. I caught Atlas' gaze as he went to put the rest of the shopping in the kitchen, a distinct what-the-hell? I walked past and went into the study.
"Is he ok? He seems really..." Adell started
"Tortured? Withdrawn? Mistreated perhaps?" I said. "He is on the stairs now, feeding or drinking, or what ever he's doing. He wont be long I don’t think... you should see him, he looks awful, sat there shaking and drinking that stuff like its his last meal. Its a shame" I said my eyes downcast as I got back to my seat.
"What is?" I looked to the door and Seph was shutting it....wow I thought, his face had lost its deathly look and had a nice colourful...fullness to it. His posture was strong and he had this powerful presence to him... he actually looked quite, attractive.
"Uh... nothing" I said not bothering to cover the look of amazement plastered to my face. "Are you okay?"
"I’m great now, after that. Pig blood, plenty of haemoglobin, lovely. Now, as I was saying before..." he moved to the chair opposite me. "I wouldn’t wonder if the question has presented itself to you, the question of why I am not with a coven" He noted the looks on our faces that told him that the question had arose "Well I was, I used to live in Duskon, about 2 years ago something happened which involved me leaving to do my own thing..."
 "What happened?" Kelva prompted
"The truth is I have been looking into the relics for some time now, even before I left my coven. My coven leader wanted possession of one and I was charged with the task of finding it. So I studied and eventually came across one, The Malceic" He glanced through some of the papers and found an illustration of a stone, "Its about the size of an egg, and has a blood red colour to it. As far as we know it is what I term as a negative relic."
"Negative? Meaning an evil one right?" Kelva said sitting on the desk.
"That’s right. They aren’t specifically evil as far as I can tell... just not good to have. So we will use the term evil loosely." he smiled "Anyway...the Malceic was found in a mausoleum, in an old abandoned cemetery in the Duskon hills. It was buried with who I assume was the one who created it, the name of who now escapes me. I gave it to Volden the coven leader. Shortly after he accessed it and I saw a change in him. He was once honourable, who had the natural urges to expand and conquer other covens which are what they all try to do." he smiled "But even so he was a friend and he looked after us, his need to expand turned into a hunger after he came into possession of the Malceic. I should have known... but he ordered me. I did as I was commanded, and eventually my concern for his welfare grew to the extent that I tried to take it from him. I failed and barely escaped with my life" he looked down all chirpiness gone. We sat there for a moment in silence, taking it in and trying to think of something to say, Kel got there first.
"Vampires are alive?" Kelva whispered to me
"Yes, Kelva they are, carry on Seph" I said firmly. Seph smiled and continued.
"Well, I was exiled, and I decided that the only way I was going to help my coven is to find another relic to combat it. A good one, one that wouldn’t try to control me, of course there is no possible way of knowing what the 'personality' of a relic is until you come into contact with it. So I found out about Corwell Valeice and found his 'shack' as you call it. I got here little over a week ago. I read his research. And now I'm here."
 "And the ruins?" Kelva asked
"Yes. According to his records he left his there." He picked up the papers from the table in front of him and pulled out a sheet then passed it to me. I glanced at it then passed it to Adell.
"Cant read it" I smiled at him. Atlas walked in with a tray full of drinks.
 "What did I miss...?”
"Everything, I will fill you in later" Kelva replied, Atlas sat next to me and pushed the papers aside on the table then set the tray down.
"Well, we read about a stone alter on Dualcia, we think we may be able to find something there."
"I wouldn’t advise that" Seph interrupted
 "Why?" Kelva asked
"It is a centre of magic, a convergence of the physical plain with the magical one. Its basically what the relics are made from. Only its unnatural since it contains only two of the three the states of our existence. Of course I learned about this, and so did Volden. There for he knows and I would assume he has people stationed there."
"Wait this Alter...It makes Relics..." Atlas started and Seph nodded. "Well doesn’t that mean that anyone can make them? Wont all his coven have relics or wont he make a load for himself?"
"Its possible if the alter was working, they know of its location but know nothing of how it works or the fact that it has been inactive for centuries"
"And may I ask how you come to know this?" Adell quizzed and Seph gestured to the papers.
"Reactivation of the alter is what Corwell was working on when he died" he stated.
"Yes I noticed that the papers looked incomplete, but more as if there are some papers missing" she looked questioningly
"I noticed that to" He said briefly "If you want to go we will...and I will accompany you. You will need my knowledge of where were going. But I ask that you let me go on ahead, the coven is my business and I will prefer you to stay out of it for your own safety."
"Fair enough. So what are we hoping to find there?" I said
"Isn’t it obvious? A place where arcane relics are made, a place where I might find out more about my dreams...were going for answers" she said.
I suddenly felt a sharp numb sensation in my side and I thought of Brox instinctively...
 "What’s wrong?" Kelva asked
"Shouldn’t Brox and Keaden be back by now?" I said
"I was just thinking the same thing" Adell replied
"I wouldn’t worry they can take care of themselves, I will go down and see what’s keeping them in a minute. Are you two at school today?" Atlas said to Adell and Kelva. Adell was a Teacher at the village school, she thought History and Magical studies, Kelva often thought the more practical classes teaching healing magic and alchemy. Since Kelva and Adell were fortunate enough to have graduated from the Guild, they teach what they can to the townsfolk and children. The Guild was run by the Alliance and trained Magicians and Warriors wealthy enough to pay for it. They has been a few occasions where someone who was 'Different' and who had attracted the Alliances attention would be given free access to the Guild, and after they had finished there time there, the Alliance would keep tabs on them and call on them when needed...call on me when needed.
"I am in, just this morning though, Kelva's not" Kelva turned around half surprised
 "Am I not?" Kelva said
"Nope we are leaving for Dualcia this afternoon and we should be there by nightfall, I need you to go, get some money and take Leun and Seph shopping for supplies, then pack, or pack first then go shopping its up to you..." She said
"Well, I will go pack mine and Keaden' stuff while you go get some coin if you want?"
"Ok." Kelva said and hopped of the desk; she walked to the door and landed a kiss on Atlas' head before she left. I decided to leave the room without showing my appreciation to Atlas' head.
I started up the stairs but when I got halfway up, I had this feeling flood over me; I fell to the steps holding my head. All I could feel was a striking fear and confusion, It was Brox, something’s happening, I closed my eyes and tried to focus on it, take the pressure away but still read it... but I couldn’t it was too fast. To... heavy. He was so scared.
"Leun, are you ok? What’s happened?" I looked up at Seph at my side his hand on my shoulder, I noticed I was sweating and heaving my breath heavily. Atlas was stood on the steps above me, he shouted for Kelva and she came a few seconds later. Adell appeared at the bottom of the stairs, seeing me she came up.
"Leun-" Kelva ran to me, "what the-"
"WE NEED TO GO...there being attacked" I said, my eyes rolling back.
 "Who?" Seph said looking confused
"Brox...Keaden" I cried worriedly, Kelva turned around and started towards her room; Atlas threw his arm out and stopped her.
"We all need to calm down a bit ok... lets just think about this a sec, how can you know that Leun?" Atlas said
"Hey, I made the mistake of doubting Leun's connection to Brox once, I wont make it again, bring the car around" then pushed his hand away and ran to her bedroom, I scrambled to my feet and ran to my room.
