I tried to leave the poetry section alone for a while, but wt's piece asked for a reaction ;) Christianity was very 'good' at over-reacting too... The strangest thing about the crusades is that when the Crusaders reached Jerusalem, it was already back in the hands of the tolerant Egyptians, who were in fact enemies of the same people the Byzantines and the Crusaders wanted to fight. Sadly enough though, the Crusaders didn't care. One thousand ninety and six Rumors reach the Evenland Churches destroyed, monks were killed Holy land desecrated A false prophet’s followers Yes, the end of days was near The beast had risen from hell Hundreds of thousands then marched The cross raised in front of them The pope had declared a war He had the mandate of God Four years they marched on and on The lands behind them were scorched A trail of blood through Europe Then at last they reached the place The holy Jerusalem! Their blue eyes with tears were filled Before they came down on itEntered mosques and synagogues Where Friday prayers ended And washed the town’s streets with blood
