How petty those who are taken in the sway
Of a political tit for tat if I may
Where religion is now the consumable
That the ignorant will gladly digest
And defecate in obscene utterances
Of hate or maybe dismay
So sing me a song of teddy bears
Halleluiah
We are perfect aren't we
He he he
Not like those barefoot barely clad
Poor black Africans bastards
I say I say I say
Credit cardless
Starving raped
Pleading and hurt
Whom the Chinese have bought
Unfair competition
When we were there first
Jordan and what was his name
Evangelist massacres in Khartoum
Blasphemy
As it pays them a couple of quid
To march in anger in the name of the prophet
Fools and racists
Defending not the Holy Spirit
Born Again Christians
Your greater love is apparent
And Jesus thanks you for your march
Of rallied support
Your wisdom
Please please please one more poem
Or witty piece
On teddy bears
Funny and
RighteouS
I can't get enough of them

There is a story in the teddy bear, but dear god, it pales into insignificance in the context of wider issues in the region alone. Look wider, and it pales further. Thought you put your ideas across well. Much more focussed. Perhaps the last six lines are a minor diversion, but still worth the reading. Had a 'ranting rhythm all of its own. Liked very much. Phil

A very well expressed and well written piece with a clear theme except for the end which undermined the piece. All religions are ridiculous and insane and, every now and then, when they really go overboard it needs to be pointed out otherwise it means we accept their insanity. I have written pieces having a go at Judeism Catholicism and Islam and will continue. I hold no brief for any of them. It doesn't come from a position of superiority but deep distrust. As a woman I do not forget that the Catholic [Spanish] Inquisition was responsible for killing nine million european women. If people opt for religion that is they place themselves in jeopardy. "While people continue to look for saviours they will always find oppression"-[Me] Still good to see a bit of passionate writing here cheers Jane
| Masterly.... Written by gerardconnolly (1186 comments posted) 5th December 2007 | I must congratulate you on providing the best and most thought provoking verse on the site for some time. Of course, I do not always agree with you. But your superbly singular choice of words and understanding of measure make your message well worth listenening to. My compliments to you. You are a poet. OK a poet in embryo. But a poet nonetheless. Slan! PS Have you ever looked at Blake? Or even Donne?
