My Diet
By jean.day
22 September 2005
As a trained dietitian, I know how I should lose weight, but somehow knowing isn't the same as doing.

  MY DIET

I've looked at the scale, and it's hard to see

How the few things I've et, have done this to me.

So I'll write it all down, and analyse what

My intake has been and what's made me a glut.

For breakfast, I'm sure that there is no blame -

Grapefruit in half, and always the same.

Coffee that's black, and maybe a fig,

And a sausage that Atkins would call "infra dig."

300 Calories - 15 grams Carbohydrate, 15 grams Protein, 20 grams Fat

Snacking has always been a problem with me

But cheese is supposed to be carbo-type free.

But maybe I do over dulge cause I  tend

To really dig into that Stilton-y blend.

366 Calories - 0 grams Carbohydrate, 24 grams Protein, 30 grams Fat

Lunch is easy - and good for me too

Lettuce with pickles and olives and Blue

Cheese for some colour and some Cottagey stuff

Tomatoes and cucumber and radish - enough.

But then I have lashings of a suitable type

Of dressing for salad, and fruit that is ripe.

515 Calories - 25 grams Carbohydrate, 25 grams Protein, 35 grams Fat

My afternoon snack is often more fruit.

I'm partial to dates, and dried fruit to boot,

I might have as many as 6 when I stop.

I'm sure that my vitamins are over the top.

240 Calories, 60 grams Carbohydrate

Supper is eaten while watching the news -

And of meats and veggies, there's lots to choose

Fruit again for ending the meal,

And lots of red wine for sealing the deal.

660 Calories, 32 grams Protein, 40 grams Carbohydrate, 25 grams Fat,
21 grams Alcohol

When bedtime comes, I've room for no more

Just herbal tea  - now let's look at the score.

I've eaten so much -  more food than before.

No wonder my mirror says I look like a boar.

Total calories 2080, 130 grams Carbohydrate , 82 grams Protein, 100 grams Fat,
21 Grams Alcohol.

:) Oh nice one Jean, I know what you mean, but last year I weighed 14 stone and was thoroughly miserable... one day I thought ENOUGH....and lost 3 stone in less than a year..am now working on the last stone! anyway, a great little poem, made me smile broadly and YOU a dietician too! Glad I'm not the only one struggling!! xxx
