wattle - no one special, just a dreamer who found an old pen.


The room was occupied and a mess, when she walked in from work. The lawn still wasn’t mowed. She stepped over the dog, which were it not for him would have been horizontal along the lounge, instead. His eyes opened, “Oh great we’re hungry,” was uttered.

She cooked thinking, “Next week our holiday is over.”

This certainly sounds like someone's version of hell. 
 
My wife would have turned right around and walked back out the way  
she came in.

Caught the emotion well. A good, quick read. 
 
Could be me, but I think you need to rethink commas in this one.
