Harriet Harman feared lost at sea.

With Ms Harman embroiled in the illegal donations row could this be a way out?

A huge land and sea search has been launched after Harriet Harman, the Labour Party Deputy leader, was reported missing after taking a canoe out to sea from Blackpool beach. Fears for her safety are rising with the discovery of a broken canoe which has been washed up on the beach at Lytham. Her family say she is an excellent canoeist and was wearing all the necessary life support equipment, and had in fact only last month bought an extremely expensive new state-of-the-art boat from Panama. They do concede however that the finding of a smashed canoe on Lytham beach is not a good sign.
Meanwhile Gordon Brown has asked to be  kept fully informed of any developments but stresses that Blackpool is one of Britain`s favourite holiday resorts and no one should be put off going to see the fantastic illuminations...

I think she must have foundered on Northern Rock.
Nice one Woody, how about an entire cabinet disappearance ?

God, if Gordon's encouraging us to go to Blackpool, he's really lost the plot. Do you think she may be carrying Gordon's love child? Actually, scrub that - I don't think he has the imagination for an affair. (And anyway - I think that little intake of air might put most off.)

Good piece Woody.

I do love the way you take a current story and go off at a weird and surreal tangent. How do you think them up?You're a subversive bunch up there in Mansfield,Roger

Thanks JohnO, Phil and Jane. Like the Northern Rock analogy John. Gordon`s love child? Too gruesome to contemplate Phil.
I think I drink too much coffee Jane. Oh and by the way, the worst has happened - Laura Ashley has actually been brave enough to open a shop in the town. Needless to say I have not let my much better half out of the house since.

Nice little piece... I liked the combination of several topical issues. The last paragraph of the statement put out by Gordon Brown is spot on !
Thanks and welcome..

Thanks embro, and as it looks like you are a fairly new member welcome to the site. I hope you find it useful.

Yes, maybe it could become a way out. On the other hand, they are now probably checking the backgrounds of everyone hiring a canoe. :P
