Just a silly little poem for my Ruby.

This is the story of Ruby Marie
who has just turned 4 so is no longer 3
with her masterfull stare and her plaster filled knee
she currently dwells in Leigh on sea

Now Ruby Marie has a fabulous life
she can drink from a cup she can cut with a knife
she can dance like a fairy and sing like a bird
and her jokes are the funniest jokes ever heard

her daily routine is much like a queens
she mostly spends time being kind and not mean
her friends are all gorgeous , flamboyant and fun
they join her for lunch every Monday at one

There's Marmalade, Parsnip, Fiesta and Flo
Winston and Fred and a hamster called Snow
they converse as they eat then eat a bit more
and after their lunch they roll on the floor

Parsnip is Rubymarie's favourite chum
they both share a hobby and love to have fun
they often frequent the library in Leigh
and play in the park in the magical tree

with their windy hair they swing on the swings
and float down the slide like angels with wings
they wiggle their bums, they stick out their tongues
they do silly walks and hide from their mums

Ruby's a star when at nursery school
entertaining the staff and acting a fool
she works very hard at drawing and sums
she's a wizard at counting she does it in ones

Ruby is truly a fan of the beach
she can paddle as far as a grown up can reach
yes the daring and fabulous Ruby Marie
with her jet setting lifestyle in Leigh upon sea.

I really enjoyed this - you capture a young child very well - and a wonderful age 4 is! It reads very well and I like the vocabulary you use. :)

Lovely poem Paula. I guess Ruby Marie is the same age as my little Jessica who started nursery school last September. A lovely age. She sounds as if she has a really happy, life as they do at that age.
