Ten Twinkly Angels
By jillrabbit
22 December 2007
Just finished two weeks of this!!

The lights go down
The audience hush.
Ten twinkly angels
Come on in a rush!

Mary hits Joseph
Who then starts to wail,
He trips on the donkey
And rips off the tail.

Baby Jesus slips out
Head first on the mat
The choir begin singing
Eeh! Someone is flat.

Shepherds start giggling
Sheep start to snore
Three Kings come calling
And fall through the door

But, in all this chaos
Their message is clear.
So, hand out the hankies
Just mop up that tear
School Nativities mean
That Christmas is here!

I take it you're a teacher?

There is something quite special about a well done Christmas production in a primary school.

Your piece caught it well.

Hi Phil

Yes I am, an extremely knackered one!

We did three and they weren't as bad as the poetic one.
(But I have seen all this over the years.)

I like your portrayal of the school nativity, it is written in a nice lighthearted style and captured the essence of these productions perfectly. As any parent will know !
Enjoy your well-earned rest.....
