Enlightenment and Inner Peace.

Few of us are given it
Enlightenment and Inner Peace
but it is surely true
that I have been chosen by
The High Holy One
to be a beacon of true enlightenment.
,

For it came to pass
that this poor man from the streets
was given this heavy load to carry
upon his weary shoulders,
for this is not an easy cross to bear, yet
I bear it with such courage and fortitude
that people stop and stare,
mostly they are on their knees,
for my words of Heavenly Wisdom
are not to be taken lightly,
no, no indeed
for they are words of Redemption
for those who listen and
take into their hearts and soul
the words of The One on High,
for it is true, that through me
you will hear the words of
The High Holy One, and
your sins may be forgiven.

Now!!
If you truly wish to be like me,
to have the joy of
Enlightenment and Inner Peace,
to be a shining light on the darkest night
I am making you a one time special offer
an offer you surely cannot refuse,
for Bernie's one week wonder course of
Enlightenment and Inner Peace
I am asking for only,
Two Hundred and Fifty Quid ( cash only, no cheques)
How could you refuse such an offer!!,
A chance of a lifetime
for you to become
one of the Chosen One's,
One of The Enlightened One's
Just Like Brother Bernie.

You have missed the boat because it was offered 2000 years ago as a free gift, I'm afraid.

Starting a Bernie cult? If I remember correctly that gentleman that lived 2000 years ago used to chase away people who offered him money.
And similarly Buddha walked away from the comfortable royal court and Confucius more than once rejected an official post.

Seems you gave a clever picture of many cult leaders who seem a far way from that sort of enlightenment, strange that there are people who still fall for the Simon Maguses of today, isn't it?

"Enlightenment and Inner Peace"
It's a common misconception that these two go together. Inner peace comes from ignorance and a bad memory.
I wasn't sure if this was a poem or a spam email :-)

thanks

It is amazing how people can be taken in by these TV preachers. Loved the irony in this piece.

Trouble with most 'religions, cults and creeds' is they are so corrupted now, I fear many decent people are still taken in!
Thanks

... what you wish for -- or you might get it

Such an old saying , but what terrifies me is the number of apocalyptic preachers that is ever growing . They summon judgement day and the rapture -- and if the power of thought does work , they will bring the four horsemen down on us pretty soon now

Thanks
