One day of life. What a shame! I've done this poem for children with my voice recording to help them with reading: http://www.whiteheadm.co.uk/html/snowman_2006.html#snowman2006
I'm a poor lonely snowman left to die on the slope
With no crumb of comfort - and no kind of hope.
The snow came so suddenly last Monday morning -
It caused many accidents 'cos there'd been no warning.
When next day the sun shone, children came out to play.
It was amazing how quickly I was built in one day.
My battered old hat is too small for my head,
I wanted a pipe but there's a stick there instead.
There's a scarf round my neck and a little black belt -
They've gone now - it's warmer - HELP! I'm starting to melt!
My head's nearly gone and my friendly cold smile -
But when I've all gone you'll find my clothes in a pile.
My time in this world was so short but so happy,
The children all thought: "What a nice little chappie";
But goodbye to this world, it was nice being here –
Now all that is left of me is one little tear.

It's a good Josie poem, but not a very happy one. | Written by Josie (2780 comments posted) 3rd January 2008 | | Don't worry Fledermaus. It's not you. And the other thing is this: Is one day of bliss better than a lifetime of unhappiness? Bet you never considered this either! Perhaps someone could have put him in the freezer to make you happy. | Written by punchy (500 comments posted) 3rd January 2008 | I like this Josie. I am sitting here in Essex and praying for snow ,so my childrens school will be closed and I get to keep them at home with me for a few more days. | Written by Phil (6683 comments posted) 5th January 2008 | Liked this too. A half melted snowman is a pretty sad sight. Phil. |
