Fallen Comrades
By Rattle_Spear
01 October 2005

This poem was written for all the fallen soldiers, policemen, firemen, civil servants and heroes who have fallen while defending their country and society from evil.

In Honour of "'ALL WAR VETS""

We have all fought in various wars. Sometimes necessary and sometimes flawed.

Sometimes for King.

Sometimes for King. Sometimes for Country. Never in vain.

Always to be free. We now bare the scars on body and soul.

Always to be free. We now bare the scars on body and soul.

Sometimes visible. Sometimes invisible.

Sometimes visible. Sometimes invisible.

We have lost life and limb. We have lost mind and soul.

We have lost life and limb. We have lost mind and soul.

Going in strong..... Not always coming out whole.

Going in strong..... Not always coming out whole.

We have stood at the front as one. We often saw victory through the sights of our gun.

We have stood at the front as one. We often saw victory through the sights of our gun.

We will stand at remembrance the same. We were all born unique and free.

Together as soldiers for everyone to see!

We will stand at remembrance the same. We were all born unique and free.

Together as soldiers for everyone to see!

Together as soldiers for everyone to see!

I'd rather think of this as an oration and as such I would dump the rhyming of the second half which seems forced and out of keeping with the first. I think it's too grave and important a subject to be marred by the inevitable cliches you get from forcing rhymes to fit what you want to say. I would thus take out the rhymes and let the words speak from your heart. Thanks for the read.
