The Last Time
By jammycarrot
09 January 2008
This person who inspired this piece died exactly a year ago, so would like to post this one up today in his memory.

There's no need to explain what it's about, you can all guess.

Jam

This is the last time,
I know it is, He knows it is.
What do you do?
What can you say,
knowing it will be the last words he'll hear from you?

The last time is awkward,
I know it is, He knows it is.
I don't know what to do,
I don't know what to say,
I don't want this to be my memory that last forever.

I hug him for the last time,
I know it is, He knows it is.
Tears sting my eyes,
I don't want it to end like this,
knowing that the next time I'm with him,
He'll be enclosed in wood.
I don't want to see him like this.
It hurts, it's sad, it's painful.

I see him for the last time.
We all know it is.
Tears stream down my face,
they stream down his.
I wish I didn't know his fate,
that this would be it, gone forever.
But I know it is, He knows it is, We all know that it is.

You really captured the "moment" in that one there Jammy. You handled the subject thoughtfully but with restraint. Liked it a lot.
