Angel

I think it's nice- it snuck up on me after I had met my partner.

I can't stop the rain from falling,
and darkness still descends on me,
Yet I promise I'll always love you,
The only one who holds the key.
An angel in the bleakest storm,
To have you lying here with me,
I'd die a thousand times or more,
For you, my angel, set me free.
The saddest thoughts are of our parting;
I long to see your eyes once more,
To bring my heart to life again,
And realise who it beats for.

Lovely poem - but why do you want your angel to set you free? If I were in love, I wouldn't want to be set free. Then you speak of parting? Better to get married and live your lives together I think!

Those few lines speak volumes ! This piece creates emotional feeling in the readers mind and adds to the enjoyment. A good read.

This is good, not wallowing in self pity but just stating sadly what you have lost.

Ahh, maybe I haven't chosen the correct words to express myself but I didn't lose anything! Lol.

The 'set free' thing was being free from everything else, all the worries etc that normal life gives ye - not free from my partner :)

It was written when we had to spend a week or so apart and so maybe I was feeling sorry for myself.

Embro: Thanks very much for the kind words, glad ye liked it
