As it happens
By HardLines

The day closes.

The night howls its solitary call

Wrapped deep in this embrace of dark,

I dream of other things,

Golden moments, warriors and kings

A girl to hold me in her arms,

keeping me from harm.

A life more ordinary, a life less solitary

Filled with song and light and laughter

Where my children dance their carefree dance

My soul parades its willful chance

And I

And I

can breathe

and see

and love

Without the fear of each new day

As night bleeds away to dawn and dawn itself draws ever near.

Another day to live and breathe.

Each breath a constant reminisce

Things long gone and things to come.

Each breath a constant agony.
