AN INCH OF COMFORT
By JohnnyD
24 January 2008

In Bombay, life is really hectic with crowds everywhere. While travelling in train, life is really a struggle every morning while going to office. However, my observation of 'an inch of comfort' is the reality that everyone has closed their eyes upon. This poem is just a dedication to that extra special 'INCH'...

Possible comfort in this over-crowded world

An aspiration

Well, everyone aspires so

But…

Is it so difficult?

Or else…

Yes, it is very much

The need of the hour

Sadly,

None of us do work

Or else…

Thinking in unison?

Why should I?

Or in that matter

Why not the next man?

Aspirations gone hell…forever…

Johnny - I'm afraid that I have to tell you that for me your subject veered to somewhere else. It is a pity because I could imagine a good poem on the subject of overcrowding in Mumbai.

Please read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satish_Kumar

Satish Kuman, a Budist monk from India, started off to find peace in his world, and ended up in Devon. We had a film about his life and thoughts as he showed us Dartmoor, the place of his dreams, the other day, and the film was out of this world. For British readers to Johnny's poem, you can see it still on your computer. So, you must make a pilgrimage to Dartmoor - or Yorkshire.

I heard similar stories about Beijing. It's probably a matter of planning, for in Hong Kong (3d most densely populated in the world) it seemed not such a big problem.

I guess it's similar in many big cities around the world, although in India it may be extreme...
