A pre-Viagra Limerick
By Phil
26 January 2008
A lady, undressed, in Tadcaster
Went down on her grateful old master.
Being soft to the core,
But panting for more -
He demanded she bounce even faster.

Were you trying to write in the style of the late, great Benny Hill? I don't get. To me, the writing is short and shallow and lacks intelligent thought and design. In the US, this would entertain young teenage boys...or be found written on a the wall of a bathroom (WC)...that's about it. Are adults in England entertained by this stuff?

How's this one?

Please someone hand me a noose
or a fork to poke out each eye
to prevent me from reading more lymerics,
because I'd rather be blind than die.

...short and shallow, but witty with a bit of an edge.

I guess some adults in the UK are entertained by this sort of thing. Perhaps we're an immature nation - at least the ones who are entertained.

I quite liked yours, as it goes. Didn't need the label though.

To save your eyesight, I'd avoid the Post-Viagra Limerick. It's even more infantile and definitely shallow - but I had more fun writing it.

Yes Gothboy - just occasionally we prefer a good laugh to being bored silly by teenage angst and social conscience. It makes for a more balanced view.
Wow!

This is a dirty Limerick! But it's interesting.
