She had come down from the hills,
come down from Kandy
to tell me of her life and times,
talk to me of Sri Lanka Blue.
of the never ending war
the killing and rape,
mass graves and tears
tigers and soldiers in the night
of those taken , never to return,of
the great wave
that washed away so many and the
fighting and greed that followed,
she sang to me of Sri Lanken Blue,
she held my hand and asked
me to pray for all those
who have been forgotten,
I promised I would not forget.
