I Have A Dream Too
By born2bunique
27 January 2008

I wrote speech inspired by Martin Luther King, a great man in history. This is basically my own shorter version of the well known speech 'I Have A Dream'.

(The text in italics is has been copied from Martin Luther King's version)

I have dream that one day this country will live together in peace, friendship and in harmony. I have dream that one day we will all stop fighting against each other but instead fighting for each other. I have a dream that we will all be equal in each other eyes; not judging each other by our appearance.

I have a dream today.

I have a dream that we will all be working together to build bridges so that we can cross them together side by side; that we will be working together as a society not
just for the present day but also for the days that follow. I have a dream today.

I have a dream that one day we will all overcome our pride and realize that  we a all equal whether we are black or white, men or women and whatever we religion we follow.

I have a dream today.

This is my hope and faith. With this faith we will be able to look at the world and set our eyes on a bigger, brighter and richer future. We are going to flourish in our God’s garden and be self-satisfied with ourselves and our neighbours.

This will be the day when we make the right decisions. This will be the day when we stop following the crowd and start following our hearts. This is the day when we are all independent but still a community. This will be tomorrow.

When we let freedom ring from every village and every hamlet, form every state and every city, we will be able to speed up the day when all of god children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing the word of the old Negro spiritual, ‘Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!’

I thought it sounded familiar, but As I don't know Luther King's speech off by heart I can't tell how close or far you are from the original version.

Some small proofing errors to be picked up (like "I have dream" several times) and perhaps the word you need instead of "self-satisfied" is "content"?

Nothing to argue against in the unalloyed idealism of its sentiments, which are entirely appropriate for someone of your age.

I find I can't add to or disagree with anything in the above review - so ditto.

when we are young, that we all have these ideals of a unified world.
If only we could get people to see that it is just a question of trying - but to live in peace we have to get rid of our egos, and that is what stops us from having a beautiful world.

It is an impossible dream, unless the whole human race agrees to try, but they won't, unfortunately. Too busy leading their own little lives.

But, good on you for wanting it.
Thanks

That you all for your comment. I'll try and improve it.

Seems it's going the other way, thanks to the bloody media. I have friends of many different backgrounds, and I'm often surprised by the generalizations and scare-mongering of the mainstream media.
In highschool the teachers wanted us to read newpapers and watch the news to know 'what is going on in the world'.
I nowadays think that newspapers and the television are for a large part responsible for any tensions in todays society.
Do kids care if their friends are black or white, Christian or Muslim? I think not. It's only when they are supposed to learn 'what is going on in the world' when they get indoctrinated with racism and fear...

I love King's speech, I've got a poster of it on my wall. This version here is pretty good as well, the idea of today and tomorrow is a great idea.
Fledermaus also made a great point in the review above me as well.
