I am minded to post this after reading "Salt'n'Shake", by Stevetroster

Damsons

Damsons
have been acidic
in my mouth.

But damsels
have been sweet.

Their
acidity

came later.

My maternal grandfather had a wonderfully productive plum tree. When the fruits fell in their profusion , too many to gather easily, it was fun to watch drunken wasps stagger away from the fermented fruit lying beneath it. 
 
Never saw a drunken damsel there though .
