Are you boozing in a garret? Or sharpening your quill?
Or flouncing about in a pink cravat as poets often will?
Can you craft some well spun verses, inspired by trees and birds
Or are novels more your cup of tea - are you overrun with words?
Could you summon up a bygone age when ladies sought affection
from handsome, brooding aristos who’d sneer in their direction.
Perhaps you have an action man who’s involved in shady dealings
-
he’ll kill and screw and wreck some cars but never voice his feelings.
Or could you write a girly book with love and tears and fashion
(And just so guys will read it too – throw in some lesbo passion)
I once dreamt up a thrilling tale of a tragic orphaned son
-
with magic wands and boarding schools but sadly that’s been done.
Do you long to find a publisher or is writing just for pleasure.
Do you burn with unsung genius or dabble at your leisure.
You might possess a lifelong dream the literary world to conquer
You may be just a harmless crank or a sad deluded plonker.
Whatever your ambitions or your deepest hopes and fears,
just gather all your cherished words and post your stuff on here.

have a look at the formatting old son :) I suspect you didn't mean to post one long paragraph!

Funny take on the writing urge.

Really liked

Enjoyed this one, Nige. Anything that raises a smile has got to be worth the read.

I love this. It made me laugh and smile, especially the following:

"Or could you write a girly book with love and tears and fashion
(And just so guys will read it too – throw in some lesbo passion)"

Because one of my male friends recently made the comment that he would only read a romance novel if there was a female-female sex scene, and I totally pictured him.

Very tightly written. I loved it! I can't think of many places you could rhyme "conquer" with "plonker". Good job!
