Not worth it

This is something I just wrote at work.  Its rather random and I spent more time thinking what I should name this than I did to write it.  :p
Its a short read so here you go

I rested my cellphone on the desk before me and stared at its slender exterior; attempting to digest everything I had just heard.

My mind raced at a thousand miles per hour. I imaged it blowing up miraculously, with pieces of my brain embellishing different corners of the room.  Like on the wall hanging, as an exquisite addition to the mosaic of material.  In the fish tank, like fish food prepared to be devoured.  On the framed seasons greeting card that read:
‘If you look with loving eyes, all the world looks lovely.”  Darcy Crane

I reclined into my chair and attempted to view the world with loving eyes.  I noticed how the window curtains were longer than needed causing the ends to go dark grey with floor dust.  The lizard on the wall had big yellow eyeballs with eyelids that shut backwards. The vase on the corner table had deep cracks in it, resembling a city rail map.  Its edges were rough from incompetent gluing.
Lovely

I looked back at my phone.  Oddly I expected it to ring.
It didn’t.
Four and a half hours later, I was still staring. The window curtains were a bit dirtier, the lizard still blinking backwards, the vase still standing proudly mended.

I defied my screaming ego and picked up my phone.
Redial.
ring ring…ring ring…
I was greeted very pleasantly.I thought about the female who owned the voice mail voice and wondered if she was as pleasant as her tone depicted.

A beep indicated it was my turn to speak.I sat up straight and opened my mouth to deliver the unrehearsed words. I then cursed myself for dialing unprepared.

My heart skipped a beat.
I took a deep breath and glanced at the screen.  I shook my head in disgust and regret.

Not worth it.

Rather random - I'm afraid I agree. Uness I'm missing something, I can't see the point. Sorry.

Strange piece. I'm not sure what to think of it. I did like the style in which it was written (except for the "ring ring... ring ring"), but it seemed to lead to nothing. Perhaps that anti-climax was what you had in mind, but it was a bit strange.
