Road
Accidents in Saudi Arabia, especially in the city of Buraida, where we
live are common. This is due to the mobile usage among the drivers of
Saudi Arabia. They also do not follow traffic lights and do reckless
driving.
But yesterday, in evening we went to one of the main
Shopping centers to buy some accessories. We were busy at looking for
suits for my father, when we heard the sirens of 6 police cars, 3
ambulances, and two fire brigade near the shopping center. At first we
didn't notice where these cars or ambulances were going. Then, we
thought that maybe someone's house could be on fire.
After 5
minutes, we saw the gathering of people near the police cars etc. Those
people including us were curious to know about the happening.
When
we finished shopping, father went there, where people were gathered.
While my sisters and mother went toward our car, waiting for father to
tell us about the accident and put shopping accessories in the car.
On
asking one of the people, that was Indian, He said that accident had
happened of 4 cars. He also told that 2 people died on the spot.
While the rest of the victims were sent to hospitals. While the other
witnesses told that a driver of 1st car was driving fast and on Traffic
signals, he applied brakes all of sudden. While three cars were behind
the 1st, on the same lane. And those cars were mangled into each other.
Father
came back and told us about the accident. Then, together we sat in our
car and papa start driving the car. Father had to drive from the other
way as each road around the happening was blocked by 2 police car each.
We took a closer look at those 4 cars.
1st car was badly damaged
with broken doors, windows and bumper. The second and third cars were
damaged from front, while the fourth car had only broken mirror window.
We
do not yet know about other victims of 4 cars accident. Maybe they had
severe injuries or maybe they died. But from driving mistake of one
driver, had led other innocent people to sufferings.
We went back
after seeing the conditions of those cars saying that this accident is
a symbol for those who drive the car this way or the other and get
sufferings. And secondly, those who drive correctly, should have to
drive more carefully and safely and do not avoid all those reckless
drivers. |

Reckless drivers who speed do tend to take others with them if they die at the wheel. It's sad to see that, especially with all the warnings given in television adverts etc. The only good thing we can take from the death of reckless drivers on the roads is that because they are gone, at least the roads are a little safer without them racing about.   |
