The land of conform

This really happened........

Once upon a time in the "Land of Conform" someone took a job, which they knew they didn't really want, they knew it wasn't right, but it was a good job, and in the Land of Conform that was was expected. The someone we will call Maisy

Maisy went to her new job, had bought new clothes and arrived almost an hour early, as she  was so worried about being late,  early was the better option. After waiting for everyone to arrive, and making sure she spoke to others on their first day, she wanted to "Fit in", but all around were sad glum faces, no sence of humour, and almost afraid to smile, Maisy wanted to shout, "Be happy, Cheer up" but where was the point? Had their Giggle pins had been removed.

The building was nice, clean and almost sterile, which pleased Maisy, and as long as she didn't want to go to the loo, or collect her own uniform or take any responsiblity, the job would of been fine. but the atmosphere was awful, a feeling of doom & gloom everywhere, not that it should of been, but everyone seemed to be afraid of laughing, smiling or generally being happy.

So Maisy thought about this new job, the people, the enviroment, and without asking anyone's permission, she walked out!

She didn't sit for hours wondering what if, what others would say or think, she didn't even worry if people thought she had failed, in her heart she knew it was the right thing to do, that working with these people was so negative and instead of making her soul sing, it made her sad.

Maisy knew it took courage to walk away, and not everyone has that courage, or maybe its selfish or supidity, but she knew that she was doing the right thing....for her!

So now Maisy is happy, she's going it alone, something many people dream of, but won't take that chance, won't jump off that step!

She is doing what is "Right for her" it doesn't make her a bad person, or a failure, and how many people have the courage of their convictions??

So just because you live in the Land of Conform, it doesn't mean it has to be the "Norm!!" For you to  be happy sometimes you just have to change the rules, everyone has their own rules & idears, who's to say who is right or wrong?

Does the workaholic really work all the hours because its fun, or good, or is it because they are trying to hide from their true feelings?

So if you want to strike out on your own, or be different, remember don't ask permission, no one ever seems to understand, as soon as you ask someone else, they will try and put you off, why is that?

The only person to make you happy is YOU,

The only person that won't let you down is YOU,

The only person you can truely trust......Yes YOU!

You certainly feel strongly about this. I suspect you have had some personal experience in a bad job that you ditched, just like Maisy. I'm left with feeling that Maisy wants to do things her own way, but she also feels the need of society to back her up - so she's not quite as independant as she would like to be.

Yes, you guessed it, it's me!!!
Its not so much that I want society to accept me, as I want to prove I am independant enough to cope. Too many people just seem to fall into to the we have to do it this way world, I think I'm a rebel, and would love to say, hey lets be like Frank Sinatra, and "Do it MY way"
hey shep
